MT SNOW QUEEN PERFORMANCE 4/12/12

MT SNOW QUEEN PERFORMANCE 4/12/12
4/12/12 Today we performed the performance of the snow queen, before the performance we
 did a run though

WHY =
  • To get into chractor
  • To refresh our minds of our lines, emotions and actions
  • To become mentally ready not just phyically ready
  • To go over any areas we are not comfortiable with
  • To perfect the performance
  • Warm up our acting skills
after our rehearsal we had a short break before the performance
WHY =
To take time out from acting, relax and perpare ourselfs metally

The performance went really well
WHAT WORKED =
  • Chractorisation = staying in chractor when seen or on stage the emotions and facial expressions of the chractor
HOW DID IT WORK?
Couple of actors went over to the nursery to collect the children staying chractor the holl time. Gerda in the last scene hiding from the snow queen slipped on a blanket on the stage (an un-needed prop on stage) and face plated the floor she quickly got back up and carried on in chractor she covered it up well for some of us asked her if she did it on purpose for the show well hiden. The Snow Queen stayed mastireious, magical and angery the hol time she was on
  • The music for when ever the snow queen came on
HOW DID IT WORKED WELL?
Repeating the music when ever the snow queen came on made it a Fermilur sound and the children reconised the sound knowing and understanding what was going on, when ever the snow queen comes on she brings cold and evil and the music helps show that the mood of the room drops when the music plays because the snow queen has entered and shes bad.

  • Interaction with the children = Keeping the children in the performance worked well =
 HOW
Keeping them involved in the performance entertained them more so they didnt just feel like they were watching asking them questions like 'didnt they children?' and geting them to 'Boo' at the snow queen kept them involved so they didnt get bored.
  • Props
HOW DID THEY WORK WELL?
Making and using the iceacals on hands helped showed the audience we were frozen. Making Crowns for the King, Queen and Prince Helped show chractors (who we were) showed royalty added chractorisation. Many of the props were asentcal to the performance they didnt just show chractorisation they helped the audience understand were they were ( the set) the trees and leafs were asencal for the woods, flowers for the flower garden.
  • Timing of production
HOW
The performance was ruffly about 30-40 minuties perfect timing for under 5 years old's, in the last scene a couple of the children started to get figity, the nursery ladys told them ;its almost over, look Gerda's reached the The snow queens palace' keeping them hooked just a littlie bit londer and it worked

WHAT I THOUGHT DIDNT WORK

5/12/12 Todays performance was not as strong as yesterdays
WHY
  • One actor frozen others helped cover it tho
  • acting was not as strong as yesterdays because it was infront of the year above and i think that effected to a few because they know them
I Think the different age groups effected our acting
HOW
under 5's = This performance was taken seriously by all, it felt like the main performance and everyone gave it their all, also it was infront of our target audience
Teens= The group knew the audience i think that effected our acting though nerves and not taking it that seriously, joked about when a mistake happened, it just was not as strong as the first

  • and the slip up at the end yesterdays with Gerda but that was covered
  • The slay was not used in ever play we could of spent the time that we used making the slay making other set and props
  • We couldnt set up the sets any earlier then the night before because of other classes
  • The flowers on curtain could of been bigger but that was down to lack of time and fabric
  • more flowers would of been better but time was limited
  • set and props were left to last minutie we were rushed the day before finshing all set quit late time could of been used better
HOW
Instead of wasting time on props that werent used in the shows time could of been used to make others props, also we should of made all props earlier instead of being relaxed about it, spent more time on set and props earlier in the production.

  • In the flower garden lighting was shown from the floor in front of the set as well as above this shadowed some flowers on the floor so the floors taped onto the curtain was a good idea.
  • A couple of props kept falling apart
WHAT
One of the trees fell over but thats because the black board behind it fell on top of it the tree was fine just had to stand it back up the cage needed abit of taping and reindeers antlers need mending.

MY INPUT TO PRODUCTION

  • I helped make the slay spray paints, attaching the cardboard and put the tincal on
  • Our timing of propreparation could of been better structured
  • I came up with the idea of puting flowers on the curtain for background with tape
  • I made the crowns for the princess, king and queen
  • I did the make up for the snow queen i researched and came up with many ideas and came up with a final design
  • I contribuated with the ballon arche way i tied wire around the ends of the ballons and tied a few to the arche way
  • Me and emily came up with the design for the tabel and chair in the castle scene
  • I contribuated with the making of the snow flakes everyone made one mine was not great but it was useable
  • I helpt set up the sets, the night before a few of us stayed til 8 seting everything up
    • My tree idea was pritty close to the final designed trees

I THINK

I think both performances went well the first more then the other it was stronger we had a run though before that performances not the second, mistakes were covered better then the second performance, the props and set looked amazing and all the chractors souted the actors all were acted well. I enjoyed the hol thing, creating and making set and props. My attendance was at the best of my ability i have missed a couple of lessions but only because i was unable to come to class due to illness and personal responsibilitys but have always been on time and most of the time motivatated for class. I feel very proud of what our groups acheieved allot of work went into the hol production acting, props and set, all ideas came from us and the finally was a sucess.

Here are some photos in stages of how i made the crowns for the princes, king and queen
before i started i measured the three heads to make sure it would fit
step one: i peirced the wire in and out of the bottom of the papper
step two: i covered the front of the paper in silver shiny paper i surcured it to the back with selatape
step three: i bended the wire in a circle curving the paper
step four: i twisted the two ends to each other creating a hoop
step five shape of the crowns: i gave each one a different shape the princes i made smaller than the others with a zig zagged top, The queens i made taller than the princes and also did a zig zagged top, the kings i made the biggest but with a boxed top
