Back Storys we have created for The Snow Queen
02/10/2012

Group one: Robbers Scene
with Lizy, Matt and Linsey

Narrative (Storyline)
  • Our scene began with the mother and daugther robber in thier hide out planning thier next rob, before they start they agree that they should eat first, they talk about eating the reindeer they have locked up, The reindeer over hears and says 'dont eat me' they are shocked that the reindeer can talk the reindeer ofters his help into robbing and tells them he wont run off they agree to let him help for one rob but if he fayals then they shall eat him, they go off into the woods and find a alone girl traveling on her own looking lost, the robbers send the reindeer off on his own to alor the lost girl towards thier hide out, the reindeer introuduces himself to her and she asks him where she can find food, he says this way and walks towards the robbers, the robbers leap out of the bush and grab the girl whilst they drag her into thier hide out the reindeer runs off to freedom. The robbers lock up the girl and notice that the reindeer has gone they freezeframe, 'The Pink Pather' tune, the robbers creep towards the reindeer to 'The Pink Pather tune' this added Humour because it was a furmiluour tune everyone knows it, when they get to the reindeer they 'Raarr' and make him jump they grab him, drag him back to the hide out and lock him back up with the girl, he starts crying whilst the girl has a go at him for geting her in thier.
Chractors
  • Our Chractors were Thr robber mother (who was the leader), the daguther (who was not that into robbing people but does not have a choose), the reindeer who showed his chractor well though body laugage used his hands for antlers, and when he traveled he galoped a jump thoughout his walk and instead of going in a straight line he used a wervey pathway what was humourous, the girl (who got catered) her mood was shown though quick paced aggestive talking towards the reindeer.
Deliverey (Holl performance)

  • We need to make it ecwoll

How
  • The girl did not have alot of part as the other roles, maybe we could add in a past story for her, wheres she came from, who she is, and what is she looking for in the woods, why she in the woods.
  • Past story for the reindeer, how did he get in the robbers jail, and his life story.
WHY
adding a history story to a chractor, adds to their chractor and makes them more intresting to the audience.

  • We need to go over our lines more there was times where we were saying our lines at the same time
WHY
Knowing your lines makes a stronger performance, making it more realisitic.

How
  • So we need order of lines
WHY
So we dont speck over eachother

  • 'The Pink Panther' bit where the robbers are creeping towards the reindeer needs to be extended
How
  • We could do more with the music looking for the reindeer can be humourous, bumps into each other with no talking
WHY
Making the humous bit longer, could get the kids to shout out 'there he is' est.

  • The suspence needs to end better when they get to the reindeer to 'The Pink Panther' tune
WHY
Extended humour

How
  • lean over the reindeer with him facing the other way, he stops doing what hes going and slowly turns and looks up at them before they 'Rarrrr'.

Overall Performance from the Robbers back story

I think 'The Pink Panther' idea worked well it added humour because its a reconized tune, kids will join in because they know it, if they dont thier parents will reconize it, furmiluour tunes from tv adds humour, it could do with some work it needs to be extended (the robbers looking for the reindeer, them looking though the woods can be funny (them bumping into eachother, both robbers looking around the same tree stomp not knowing the other is on the other side and they can scare each other est..) the suspene when they reach the reindeer needs to be bigger it just dies at the end so we could freeze before making him jump and he could turn slowly knowing their behind he turns and looks up (humour). I think the past story of the robbers is a worked well (where mother robber can not find a job that is why they have to steail) maybe we can further thier past story to make a learning message for the kids thoughout the play, Gerda teaches them that it is not good to steail and helps them by giving them advice they thank Gerda and give her information about how to find Kai.

Group Two: The prince and the princess scene
with Emily, Polly, Linsey and one other?

Narrative (Storyline)

  • Our story began with the princess, her mother (Queen) and the dress maker. The princess is wearing her wedding dress, the dress maker is altering it admireing her work and the mother is picking out bits she wants changed, the princess does not agree with her mother, her mother is controling, Gerda bursts in out of breath demanding where Kai is, the queen is outgraged at Gerda's behaviour, the princess can see she is upset and gets down from her stoil and trys to carm Gerda down, Gerda actcidently steps on her dress and it rips, the dress maker is unable to mend it and the mother fire's her she runs off, the princess sits next to Gerda and asks her what's happened, Gerda explains that she is looking for her friend Kai and the Snow Queen has him at a castle, they explain to her that the castle she is in is thiers not the Snow Queen's, they point out to her though the window where the Snow Queens castle is, Gerda thanks them and offers to mend the dress she claps her hands and the crow thats been helping her out along the way brings a kneedle and threads, whilst Gerda mends the dress a happy up-beat tune is played everyone is in silence Gerda sew's to the music and everyone staying bobs from side to side happiery, when the tune fades out Gerda has mended the dress and they are very grateful to her, they give her directions to the castle and she flys off with her crow.
Chractors
  • Our chractors were the princess (the bride), the controlling mother (Queen), the dress maker and the crow, the mother showed how controlling she was though speech (quick), and body langague (throwning at the dress disigreeing with parts), the crow showed thier chractor well though body langague (arms in a folded position to look like wings and they flaped now and then, peeking off head), the princess was kind and layed back (didnt panic about dress was just disipointed) and unlike the queen (who was up tiet about Gerda being in the castle) she was just conserned to why Gerda was so upset.
Delivery (Holl performance)

  • We need to make it more eacwol too, the crow did not have anoth part in the scene
How
  • We can add the ceow in more (past story, why he helps Gerda) he can talk because its a magical land and that can add more story, so hes not just a animal.
WHY
Add humour, and adds in the crow more, we want to know more about the crow.

  • Relationship. The queen start with being controlling over daugther, then her mood changes to outgrained to Gerda, when the dress rips shes outranged when its fixed shes friendly to everyone, massive mood change
How
  • ever different mood's need to be shown bigger or keep the queen at the same level still up her own bum even after the dress is fixed
WHY
Mixed emotions shown not needed, confusing to the audience of her chractor. 

  • Gerda bursts in acusingly to the others because she was told a castle
How

  • Gerda's reaction when she see's a bride, she has been told the Snow Queen has him, when she see's a bride she should have more of a reaction (shock) the first thing she is going to think is she thinks they have Kai is thier getting marriade (more drama, explain more).
WHY
She lashes out to the bride and the audience do not understand why

Overall Performance from the Prince and Princess back story

I think the dress fiting scene worked well with the storyline, she helps them out with fixing the dress and they help her with which way she needs to go, she makes friends at this world, most of the worlds they just want to rob or steail her, i think the music added where Gerda mends the dress worked well everyones in a panic the scene is sent quit mad and then whilst Gerda mends it everyones becoming more happier moving to the happy tune, it enfursizes the mood of the holl scene everyones becoming happier and a friendship has started. I think it could do with some developing, the relationship between Gerda and the mood of the queen (one moment striked and controlling and then layed back, also making the performance eacwol between the actors (Crow) needs more part in the play.
